When wheat importer become flour producer
A total of 10 local importers of wheat turned into flour producers . This transition because the government and associations agressive to raid flour products non-standard imports that are inconsistent with national standards of Indonesia (SNI).
Ten importers who switched so that producers include PT. Asia Raya, PT. Kwala Intan new Grain, PT. Tri Pilar Pangan Utama. PT. Jakaranatama, PT. Cerestar Flour Mills, PT. Pundi Kencana, PT. Fugui Flour & Grain, PT. Bungasari Flour Mills, PT. Berkat Indah Gemilang, PT. Purnomosidi Sejati.
"I am intensely against illegal products, the competitors, it grew to be producer importer transition," said Director of the Association Eksekutir Indonesian wheat flour producers (Aptindo) Ratna Sari Loppies in a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/1/2010).
According to Ratna, this transition issues commonly occurs when a country is very strict product quality standards for certain goods such as flour and others. So in other words, the application of national standards of Indonesia (SNI) has encouraged the investment of the importer for not bothered with the standard provisions of the import.
He pointed out the Indofood case when marketing products Indomie instant noodle brand in Nigeria and Egypt are often troubled by the provision by local government. But Indofood finally decided to build Indofood Indomie factory in Africa.
Aptindo also recorded three new wheat producers of Cerestar Flour Mills, Kwala Intan New Grain and barn into production this year. So the domestic wheat industry to get additional installed capacity of about 600 thousand tons.
Until now the national wheat industry to move to the level reached 60% utilization of installed production capacity of 7 million tons. From the unused capacity, 75% yield of flour and the remaining 25% of wheat derived products, such as livestock feed. Wheat demand growth in 2010 is predicted to rise 5% from 3.9 million tons in 2009 from a year ago.
