Jakarta Railway needs Rp28 trillion
Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia calculates funding needs for the revitalization of railways in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) until 2014 to reach Rp28 trillion.
Director General of Railways Tundjung Inderawan said funds to develop the electric train (KRL) with a target Jabodetabek serve 3 million passengers per day.
"Jabodetabek KRL services can only carry 450,000 people per day that it took a lot of work to reach 3 million people per day," he said today.
He explained Rp28 trillion of funds would be used for the main work of al improvement electrification Rp2,3 trillion, signaling Rp2,4 trillion and repair railway Rp8 trillion.
In addition, Tundjung added, funds were allocated to remove railway crossing by building a Flyover and the underpass.
"With a target of 3 million passengers per day means Headway KRL 5 minutes later."
